Before you book

Know what to expect.

Every home and HVAC system is different. These answers explain the factors that matter, without promising a price, rebate or result before the equipment and home are assessed.

01

Pricing & replacement

How much does an HVAC service call cost?

Service-call pricing depends on the type of equipment, the problem and when service is needed. Contact Airmaxx for current diagnostic pricing. After the system is assessed, we explain the findings and repair options before additional work begins.

Why can’t you give an exact furnace or air-conditioner price online?

A reliable quote requires more than an equipment model. Home size, heat-loss and heat-gain calculations, efficiency, ductwork, venting, electrical work, drainage, permits and installation access can all affect the final price. An on-site assessment helps prevent incorrect sizing and surprise costs.

Should I repair or replace my furnace?

The decision depends on the furnace’s age, safety, repair history, efficiency, comfort and the cost of the current repair. A failed heat exchanger, repeated breakdowns or an older system facing a major repair may make replacement more practical. We inspect first and explain both options when appropriate.

How long does a furnace replacement take?

Many straightforward furnace replacements can be completed in one working day. Changes to venting, gas piping, electrical service, ductwork or other equipment can take longer. Your written proposal should set expectations for your specific installation.

02

Maintenance & warranties

How often should heating and cooling equipment be maintained?

Most furnaces and central air conditioners should receive professional maintenance once a year. Heat pumps operate in both heating and cooling seasons, so the recommended schedule can depend on usage and manufacturer requirements. Regular inspection can identify safety, airflow and performance issues early.

How often should I change my furnace filter?

Inspect the filter monthly and follow the equipment and filter manufacturer’s instructions. Many common filters need replacement every one to three months, but pets, renovations, allergies, fan runtime and higher-efficiency filters can change that schedule. Never install a filter that restricts airflow beyond what the system allows.

What warranty comes with new HVAC equipment?

Warranty coverage varies by brand, model and installation. New equipment may include a manufacturer parts warranty plus separate labour coverage from the contractor. Product registration and documented maintenance may be required. Airmaxx provides the applicable warranty details with the written proposal.

Does annual maintenance help protect my warranty?

It can. Some manufacturers require proper installation, registration and documented maintenance to keep certain coverage in force. Keep invoices and service records, and review the exact terms of your manufacturer warranty.

03

Heat pumps

Do heat pumps work during GTA winters?

Modern cold-climate heat pumps are designed to operate at low outdoor temperatures. Results depend on correct equipment selection, sizing, installation, airflow and the home’s heat loss. Some homes use an all-electric design; others use a furnace or other system for backup in very cold conditions.

Can a heat pump replace my furnace?

In some homes, yes. In others, a dual-fuel system that combines a heat pump with a gas furnace is a better fit. The right design depends on the building, electrical capacity, comfort goals, operating costs and how the system will perform at the home’s design temperature.

Will a heat pump lower my energy bills?

A heat pump can be very efficient, but savings are not guaranteed. Actual costs depend on electricity and fuel rates, insulation, thermostat settings, equipment efficiency, sizing, installation and how much backup heat is used. A proper assessment is more useful than a generic savings estimate.

What is the difference between ductless and central heat pumps?

A central heat pump uses the home’s ductwork to distribute conditioned air. A ductless mini-split uses one or more indoor heads and is often useful for additions, homes without ducts or rooms needing independent control. Both require correct sizing and placement.

04

Rebates & planning

Are rebates available for heat pumps or HVAC upgrades?

Ontario rebate programs and eligibility rules change over time. Available incentives may depend on the home, existing heating system, selected equipment, contractor participation, an energy assessment or pre-approval. Check the official program terms before buying equipment or starting work.

Can installation start before rebate approval?

Do not assume it can. Some programs require registration, an assessment or written pre-approval before equipment is purchased or installed. Starting too early may make the project ineligible. Airmaxx can discuss equipment options, but the program administrator determines eligibility and payment.

How do I choose the right size HVAC system?

Equipment should be selected using the home’s heating and cooling load, not only the size of the old unit. Insulation, windows, orientation, air leakage, ductwork and occupancy all matter. Oversized equipment can create short cycling, noise and uneven comfort; undersized equipment may struggle during extreme weather.

Which GTA areas does Airmaxx serve?

Airmaxx serves homeowners across the Greater Toronto Area, including Mississauga, Oakville, Milton, Etobicoke and Hamilton-area communities. Contact us with your address and service request so we can confirm availability.
